Third-Party Fundraising Wrap-Up

Friday, October 26th, 2012

What a year!  Our third-party fundraisers have donated over $33,000 to the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund this year, alone!

What’s a third-party fundraiser, you ask?  It’s an organization, outside of our fund, that plans an event for the sole purpose of raising money for us.  For example, the Sharon Country Club, the Meadow Brook Golf Club and the Salem Country Club all hosted golf tournaments and sent the proceeds to us.  The Bass River Tennis club hosted a Ladies’ Night Out tennis tournament to benefit our fund and the Friends of Reading held their 4th Annual ESSCO-MGH tournament and gave us the proceeds.

And there’s more.  This year, Mrs. Mugs - a great store in Sandwich, MA, - raised money for us from the proceeds of their Booby Buoys sales!  A group of women from Stow, MA, ran their 2nd Annual Stow Women’s Walk for us, and Ernst & Young sponsored a Jean’s Day.  Coming up, the Neponset Cafe in Canton, MA, will hold it’s annual Chili Contest for our benefit on November 17th.  We also have Didi Fisher Weinreb designing, producing and selling her GAMESETCURE T-Shirts to benefit the fund.  Get yours by emailing Didi @Didiweinreb@gmail.com.

If you’re interested in running a third-party fundraiser for us, please contact Missy at mcfyffe1@comcast.net, so she can send you goodies for your gift bags and arrange to publicize your event on facebook and on our webpage.  With your help, we can cure breast cancer one third-party benefit at a time.

Honoring Suzanne B. Lowell, Thursday, Oct. 11

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

We are so excited to be honoring such a fabulous woman at this year’s 17th Annual Cards For A Cure benefit!

Suzanne’s efforts to assist women with breast cancer and to promote breast cancer treatment programs in the Boston community are widely respected.  Her dedication to the innovative research programs we fund, coupled with her own personal story, are just some of the reasons she is being honored Thursday night.

Ellen Slater One Of The MGH One Hundred

Friday, May 25th, 2012

I’m so excited to share the news that our very own Ellen Slater has been named one of the MGH One Hundred!

The One Hundred honors one hundred individuals and/or organizations that have played a significant role in advancing the fight against cancer at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

An active supporter of the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund, Ellen has been instrumental in the success of our Annual Benefit for over ten years.  We are delighted that she is being recognized by MGH for her tireless efforts.

She will be honored during the One Hundred dinner on June 7th at the Westin Waterfront Hotel.  Actor Matt Damon will be the featured speaker, again this year,  as his father has been treated for cancer at MGH.

In 2008 The ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund also received this wonderful honor and was named one of the One Hundred.

We Did It!

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Preliminary figures are in, and it looks like our 16th Annual benefit was our most successful to date!  We raised more than $225,000 and the money is still pouring in.  It’s raining $10s and $20s and then some!

And the best part?  One hundred percent of the money raised goes directly to breast cancer research.  We don’t take one penny off the top.  How many charities can say that?  And mean it!

Stay tuned for more great news!
